DNA databases are a key component in the criminal justice system in many countries and often employed in forensic investigations. A recent study revels the effects of DNA databases on the deterrence and detection of offenders in Denmark and will be used to kick off the discussion with a presentation from the authors followed by a discussion among the panelists. Expected topics to be discussed will be the benefits of the DNA databases and the new perspective that the new studies in the US and Denmark to prevent crimes. Connected to this topic the discussion will also touch on the economical, social and ethical aspects of DNA databases. How inclusive those have to be and how the strength of the evidences impact their value. The delegates will be able to ask questions to the panelist during the session via the chat
