    Biography
      Dr. César Evaristo received his Ph.D. at the University of Paris Descartes, Paris, France in 2009. After 7 years as a research scientist in the US and Germany he joined Miltenyi Biotec in 2016 as a Team Coordinator of the R&D Tumor Immunology Group. He focuses on immuno-oncology preclinical research, target discovery, as well as oncology related product development.

    A complex interaction among heterogenous immune and tumor cells within the tumorous tissue not only influences tumor progression, but can also shape therapeutic responses. Understanding such interactions and cellular phenotypes within the tumor microenvironment is key to developing future immune-based cancer therapy strategies. Limited patient sample material, and loss of said precious material along the workflow, are major challenges in performing elaborative or detailed study of such complex microenvironments.

     

    Learning Objectives:

    • Discuss how to design a comprehensive workflow to obtain the maximum number of readouts from a single sample
    • Discuss how multiparameter identification and quantification of immune cell subsets can be improved by using REAfinity antibodies
    • Discuss how to achieve higher resolution of single-cells by RNAseq and high-content profiling using microscopy techniques
