Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), the infection that causes COVID-19, is especially severe in older populations. The development of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines has helped advance a resolution to the COVID-19 pandemic but their efficacy is partly compromised by the recent emergence of variants with enhanced transmissibility. The emergence of these variants emphasizes the need for further development of anti-SARS-CoV-2 therapies, especially in aged populations.

  • How to use murine SARS-CoV-2 infection models to study COVID-19 pathogenesis
  • Understand the role of PLA2G2D, a phospholipase, and its downstream lipid product, prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) in the pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2 infection
