    Biography
      David Horvath is a senior application scientist at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences. In this role, David automates propriety and third-party next generation sequencing (NGS) chemistries. He holds a M.S. in Medical & Molecular Genetics from the Indiana University School of Medicine and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Akron. David's career experiences span a broad range of life science fields, including forensic DNA analysis, medical diagnostics and agricultural biotech, prior to joining Beckman Coulter Life Sciences in 2014.

      Biography
        Zach Smith is a senior application scientist at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences. In this role, Zach automates propriety and third-party next generation sequencing (NGS) kits. He holds a Masters degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelors degree in Biology from Indiana University. Zach also worked at the university's Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics as a project scientist before joining Beckman Coulter Life Sciences in 2014.

      Abstract:
      Generating NGS data you can trust is highly reliant on the quality of the library sample that’s sequenced.  NGS sample prep has become more streamlined, but it’s still a labor intensive process highly prone to error. Liquid handling automation provides a standardized solution that relieves technicians from time-consuming pipetting and keeping track of the various steps, and better ensures sequence- ready libraries that deliver reliable results.  In this first of three webinars, Application Scientists David Horvath and Zach Smith will discuss some of the challenges overcome with automated sample preparation. They also will demonstrate the ease -of-use and benefits, including quality data, of using Biomek-automated NGS sample prep.
