Osaka mutation is the first deletion type mutation found in APP and A_. A_ E22delta mutant is more resistant to degradation of two major A_-degrading enzymes, neprilysin and insulin-degrading enzyme. The synthetic mutant A_ has unusual aggregation properties, with enhanced oligomerization but no fibrillization. It inhibits long-term hippocampal enhancement more effectively than wild-type A_.
