"Irradiated PBMC, Donor3" | Creative Biolabs

Irradiated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) are normal PBMCs that have been exposed to 25 Gy radiation from cesium 137. This dose of radiation causes enough DNA damage to prevent cells from dividing, but still produces cytokines and other soluble factors. These PBMCs are well suited for use as feeder layers for antigen presenting cells or other cells because their lack of proliferation prevents them from contaminating the cells of interest. The irradiated PBMC can be used in combination with an antiCD3 antibody to stimulate activation and proliferation of T cells, or as a stimulator in a mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR). In some cases, we have unirradiated cells from the same donor that can be used as controls.
