    Gamma ray

Of all the waves in the electromagnetic spectrum, gamma rays display the smallest wavelength and provide the most energy. Gamma rays are generated by some of the hottest, highest energy objects in the universe including neutron stars and the regions around black holes. Nuclear explosions, lighting, and radioactive decay can produce gamma rays on Earth.
