Laboratory diagnostics for COVID19 involve testing to identify genetic components of SARS0CoV2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Pieces of genetic material can be measured using a laboratory procedure called real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The diagnostic testing remains the gold standard for diagnosis of COVID019.
