Here's Why Binge-Watching TV is So Bad for You

Have you ever just sat down and watched a whole season of TV episodes to catch up on what you missed? You're not alone. On the other hand, doing so isn't very good for your body or your health.

Sitting for extended periods of time increases your odds of both cancer and heart disease, but when you're sitting in front of a TV, you're not just sitting. Watching TV for too long also strains the eyes, and if you do it at night, it can make falling asleep more difficult.

Obviously, sitting down and watching a little bit of TV in moderation isn't going to kill you, but you can mitigate the adverse health effects of binge-watching TV by getting up to stretch occasionally, or by watching TV with people instead of all by your lonesome.

Despite how tempted you might be to watch a whole TV season in one day, sometimes the best way to enjoy a program is to view it on the daily or weekly basis that new episodes arrive. Doing so is better for your health, and keeps your mind on other things besides just your TV set.
