Most people won't ever have to deal with the inconvenience of being stranded in the middle of a desert or forest, far away from civilization. Regardless, it's still good to know about basic survival tips just in case you ever happen to be unlucky enough to end up in one of these bizarre situations.

Most people agree that some of the necessities for life are: water, food, and shelter. On the other hand, you should probably tack fire and clothing to that list too. Fire is essential for sterilizing any water that you find, while clothing can help keep you warm and protected from the elements.

If it's food that you're after, you'll want to avoid eating from plants, because many are potentially poisonous. You can eat acorns, which are always safe, and you can also munch on insects, small animals like rabbits, and seaweed.

Being all alone and left to your own devices can be a scary thing, but by understanding basic survival tips, you can thrive. Hopefully, you will never find yourself in this kind of situation; but prepare yourself anyway.
