Barbara Gerten is a microbiologist with many years of industry experience who has been at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, since 2008. She is a member of several ISO/CEN committees including ISO Working Groups e.g. “Culture Media” and “Quality control of membrane filters” and she is also Chair of the German DIN NAL Working Group “Microbiology in the Food Chain”.
Merck has initiated an enterprise wide digitization initiative. As a result the Life Science business has created “connected lab” as a promise Ventures, which has the goal to deliver digital tools to increase efficiency on lab processes, reduce motion waste and help relieving pain and cost from managing unstructured data. Matthias Nold finished his PhD studies in organic chemistry at the university of Basel switzerland in 2004. He joined Sigma-Aldrich Switzerland in 2008 as a product manager for analytical standards. Since 2016 he is a global product manager for reference materials at Merck with a special focus on reference materials for Food and Beverage Testing.

Member of the Scientific customer support team at Merck Life Science, specialist for Photometry, 35 years of experience in the field of environmental analysis, including 20 years in product management for photometry. Currently responsible for trainings, lectures, publications.
Dr. Estelle Riché holds an engineering degree in chemistry from ESCOM (France) and a PhD in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA).
Prior to joining Merck KGaA fourteen years ago, she was an assistant professor in the School of Dentistry at UNC for four years. She is currently a Global Application Specialist for Milli-Q® Lab Water Solutions, based in Guyancourt, France. Her responsibilities include understanding the potential impact of water contaminants on the results of laboratory tests and providing support to scientists regarding the optimal use of purified water in their experiments.
