Although metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) is increasingly used in clinical microbiological diagnosis, especially for rare or complicated infectious diseases, the applications of mNGS in investigating bloodstream infections (BSIs) in immunocompromised patients have not been widely reported. In this webinar, Dr. Lili Gao will discuss a retrospective study that evaluates and compares the performance of mNGS and conventional microbiological tests (CMTs) in immunocompromised hematology patients with suspected BSI. She will also provide the pathogen spectrum of BSIs. Dr. Tao Chen will then provide an overview of PMseqTM, an advanced pathogenic microorganism detection platform that supports Dr. Gao’s mNGS study, and discuss additional examples of clinical applications for PMseqTM.
Learning Objectives
- Investigate how mNGS outperforms CMT for diagnosing immunocompromised hematology patients
- Discuss multiple-pathogen infections, most common CMV-virus and CMV-fungus co-infections
- Explore the combination of mNGS and CMT clinical results to improve diagnostic accuracy
Webinars will be available for unlimited on-demand viewing after live event.
