I graduated from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. I have been employed at MPI research for the last nine years as a staff veterinarian, working primarily with dogs, cats, rats, mice, rabbits, swine, and non-human primates (and occasionally others).

    Abstract:
Contract Research Organizations present unique challenges in the field of environmental enrichment for laboratory animals. CRO's are service oriented and budget conscious, with large animal populations in a GLP environment. By learning to incorporate the needs of GLP studies into enrichment plans and working with GLP scientists through education on how enrichment can improve their studies while minimizing variability, contract research organizations can increase their ability to meet USDA requirements and improve animal welfare while maintaining study quality.
