    Biography
      Steve Jackson is an Associate Director of Product Applications in the Genetic Analysis division of Life Technologies. Prior to joining Life Technologies, he was Manager and Principle Field Applications Specialist for Nanostring Technologies. At the University of Washington, Department of Genome Sciences, he was an Acting Assistant Professor, exploring basic developmental genetics and neurodegenerative diseases in Drosophila. Dr. Jackson earned his Ph.D in Biochemistry, Biophysics and Genetics at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, CO.

    Abstract:

    Copy number variation, a major cause of structural variation in the genome, plays an important role in human disease. Determination of copy number variation requires both precision and accuracy. Real-time PCR is commonly used to validate copy number variation in populations. However, it may require many replicates to get the precision needed. Digital PCR allows you to go beyond the limits of real-time PCR. With the QuantStudio 3D Digital PCR System, a simple and affordable digital PCR platform, obtaining precise and accurate absolute quantification for your nucleic acid targets is attainable.
