    Biography
      Merryl is the DMPK and Sampling Specialist for SAI Infusion Technologies. Before joining SAI, Merryl specialized in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics in both Big Pharma and Biotech on both coasts of the US. While at Merck and in Biotech, she honed her skills in all aspects of DMPK research, from formulating novel compounds all the way to performing Bioanalysis on the Mass Spec. While she expected to work in the lab until retirement, she is very happy she made the switch to her role at SAI, where she gets to work with and support passionate researchers all over the world every day.
    • Global Head of Surgery, Envigo
      Biography
        Brad Gien is Global Head of Surgery for Envigo. He has been with Envigo for nearly six years and has been a laboratory animal surgeon for 21 years. Brad started his career in behavioral neuroscience studying Parkinson’s disease and compounds with neuroprotective effects. After a brief stint researching oncology, Brad was fortunate to work for a small start-up company and set up a pharmacokinetic early discovery lab. Thirteen years later, Brad came on as Envigo’s Global Surgery Program Manager and is now the Global Head of Surgery leading 30+ surgical staff across four sites. As part of Envigo’s IACUC and Science and Technology Advisory Group, Brad is committed to helping others enhance their research.
      • Scientist I, In Vivo Pharmacology, Vividion Therapeutics
        Biography
          Gina Ma holds a BS in biology from Colorado State University and is a Registered Veterinary Technician licensed in the state of California. She has almost 20 years of experience in the biotech/pharma field and spent all of those years under the glow of the fluorescent lights of the vivarium carrying out animal-based research. There is no animal too big or too small, having worked with everything from mice to domestic “farm” pigs she is well versed in a variety of animal models for various indications, such as oncology, cardiovascular research and ADME studies.

        Rodent bile collection studies can be challenging. Not only do they require a technically difficult surgery, but there is also a learning curve for the equipment. Luckily, infusion and sampling products are continually evolving to improve scientific results while reducing animal use and refining methodologies. In this session we will explore both the tools and techniques that will make your studies more successful. This includes a spotlight on the CannuLockTM Catheter Access ButtonsTM which are a game-changer for successful bile collection studies.
