Quantifying miRNA and Protein Biomarkers Directly from Challenging Sample Types with FirePlex® Technology

    Biography
      Brendan has been working at Abcam for over 5 years. He started in Scientific Support after graduate school where he earned a Master's Degree in Biology. He then moved to Inside Sales and then Field Scientific Support for the Eastern US, specifically supporting Abcam's Multiplex Assays (FirePlex).

    Abstract

    To address the need for rapid and sensitive quantitation of miRNA and protein biomarkers from biological samples, we have developed the FirePlex® Technology Platform. Utilizing patented FirePlex hydrogel particles and a three-region encoding design, FirePlex allows for true, in-well multiplexing, providing flexible and customizable quantification of analytes directly from biofluids, without the need for RNA isolation or sample processing prior to analysis. 

    In this seminar, we will highlight the unique features of the FirePlex's particle-based multiplexing, and present the FirePlex miRNA and Immunoassays which can be customized for a broad range of research areas, including organ injury, inflammation, and cancer immunology. We will also introduce the new FirePlex-HT, a two-step, no-wash immunoassay designed for high-throughput biomarker screening studies.

    Learning Objectives: 

    1. Profiling up to 65 miRNA directly in a single sample from biofluids without RNA extraction
    2. Profiling up to 70 proteins directly in a single biofluid sample
