    Biography

      Faruk Erdem Kombak is a research associate in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York. He has been working in Precision Pathology Biobanking Center of this institution since September 2019. He was born in Turkey, in 1986 and completed his medical degree in Istanbul University, Turkey, in 2010. He finished his anatomical pathology residency in Marmara University, Turkey, in 2016. He worked as attending pathologist in Turkey for 3 years. In his current position; he performs histological and immunohistochemical assessment for clinical trials/scientific projects as well as multiplex immunohistochemistry and tissue microarray construction.


    Abstract

    Immunohistochemistry (IHC) has been an indispensable tool for daily pathology practice. Multiplex designs have further facilitated its utility with improved efficacy. Several techniques of multiplex IHC are available; one of which is the Discovery Ultra system of Ventana. It allows combination of AP and HRP based chromogens on sequential runs. In this presentation, we will demonstrate our experience with Discovery Ultra system and our pentaplex design as well as a triplex design with new Beta-product HRP based chromogens.
