    Biography
      Dr. Zainab Mukhtar is working as a Global Manager, Medical and Scientific Affairs for Abbott Hematology based in Abbott Delkenheim office in Germany. She is a Medical Physician, specialized in hematology blood transfusion and transplantation medicine from Bristol University, UK. Her thesis work was in the laboratory of histocompatibility and immunogenetics at NHSBT Filton, UK under the supervision of Dr. John Harvey related to STR markers in transplants of acute pediatric leukemia's. She also additionally acquired Assessor's Certification from Paul Ehrlich Institute, Germany. Her more than 16 years of post-graduate experience includes hematology and blood bank laboratory management, clinical management of hematology and transfusion dependent patients of various hematological disorders and Consulting, for Hematology and Blood Transfusion Projects in various countries. She has been actively presenting her research work in various hematological and blood transfusion Societies in the world and been an active member of ISBT and was the recipient of various scholarship awards like Harold Gunson Fellowship-ISBT, World Hemophilia Society Fellowship and CSSS British Scholarship. She has also studied Health Care Business Management and has experience of Commercial Hematology in Abbott Diagnostics in the region Middle East, Srilanka and Pakistan during which she also supported hematology laboratories of the region. Her main areas of research interest are, recent advancements in hematological diagnostics, quality management in hematology and blood transfusion, hemoglobinopathies, transfusion dependent anemias, hemovigilance, transfusion transmitted infectious diseases, and Pediatric Leukemia. Zainab is also a dedicated volunteer and member of various Women Professional Societies and committed to advancements of women in Science and Leadership.

    Hoy en día, los analizadores de hematología pueden recopilar grandes cantidades de datos acerca de las características celulares, que posteriormente mejoran la detección de enfermedades. Los sistemas avanzados pueden realizar un recuento sanguíneo completo (Hemograma) y clasificar múltiples tipos de células adicionales a las cinco subclases normales de glóbulos blancos maduros. También producen mejores alertas de resultados anormales para ayudar en la revisión microscópica adicional. La Separación de la Dispersión de luz Polarizada de Múltiples Ángulos (MAPSS™), es una tecnología óptica que se utiliza en los analizadores de hematología de Abbott. El más reciente sistema de hematología de Abbott emplea una versión avanzada de la tecnología MAPSS, así como un algoritmo de análisis que proporciona una mejor diferenciación de las células sanguíneas. Además, el análisis de los glóbulos rojos y las plaquetas se realiza utilizando tecnología completamente óptica, lo que permite la introducción de parámetros adicionales.
     
    En este webinar de la SERIE HIT, la Dra. Mukhtar revisará los principios y capacidades generales de la tecnología MAPSS Avanzada de Abbott y revisará una serie de casos reportados por el sistema de hematología que emplea MAPSS Avanzada.
     
    Objetivos de aprendizaje:
    • Describir la tecnología MAPSS Avanzada: principios de medición, detectores, parámetros reportables, alertas morfológicas, eficiencia del flujo de trabajo y demostración de casos relevantes.
    • Discutir la separación RBC/PLT usando MAPSS Avanzada en comparación con la impedancia y los parámetros adicionales obtenidos. Demostrar de manera eficiente los casos relevantes de anemia hipocrómica microcítica y esquistocitos con hemólisis intravascular.
    • Revisar el análisis de plaquetas, alertas generadas durante su análisis y las Plaquetas Reticuladas, comparándolos con métodos como CD61 e impedancia, así como una demostración de casos utilizando la tecnología MAPSS Avanzada en las plaquetas.
