    Biography
Steven is Illumina's Sr. Segment Manager covering Cell Biology and single-cell applications. He has degrees in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from Michigan State and Texas A&M respectively. He has held various Applications Scientific and Commercial roles over the course of his career; specializing in single cell genomics since 2012.

    Abstract:

An overview of the evolution of single cell sequencing applications and the current trends in research across North America. I will highlight those techniques and protocols that are causing the most excitement such as droplet technologies, combinational barcoding approaches and CRISPR based perturbations. We will identify the impacts on data quality and results from sample preparation, methods and sequencing depth. Finally, we will highlight how single cell genomics are being used to advance various fields of study including immunology, neurology and cancer biology.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Understand What trends are Emerging across North America in single cell applications become more common
    2. Learn how others are using single cell approaches in scientific examples.
    3. Learn about new cutting edge applications that may be of interest to researchers as they consider their next steps.
