The monoclonal antibody ER-MP23 reacts specifically with macrophage galactose-specific lectin (MGL), a 38 kDa single-chain surface glycoprotein. MGL exists in the connective tissue adjacent to the salivary epithelium. On macrophages, such as salivary glands, lymph node sac MGL is present on the surface of connective tissue macrophages and their bone marrow precursor cells, and MGL is expressed in macrophage cell lines (such as J774-1.6, RAW309Cr.1 and WR19M.1)) The level of MGL in mature macrophages is increased, and the antigen is co-expressed with the antigen recognized by the monoclonal antibody BM8 (HM1066).
After immunizing rats with a mouse macrophage cell line, monoclonal antibody ER-MP23 was produced. Blocking studies have shown that the monoclonal antibody ER-MP23 can block mouse MGL.
