A Manned Ship With Solar Electric Propulsion

Artist's conception of a manned Mars ship with solar electric propulsion

Future deep space missions will require propulsion this is more efficient than chemical rockets. Though it is slow to start, solar electric propulsion with an ion drive can accelerate continuously. So over time they can build up quite a velocity.
