The Use of Cannabis to Treat Chronic Pain

WRITTEN BY: Amanda Kahl

Chronic pain can lead to depression, addiction to opioids, anxiety, other side effects, and more. The first video from Howcast talks about clinical trials being conducted with cannabis and cannabinoids to treat chronic pain. These studies have shown that cannabis is able to reduce pain up to and greater than 30 to 40 percent in patients. The use of cannabis alongside other treatments has also allowed some patients to eventually go off toxic medications. There are many treatment options for chronic pain and cannabis is just one that some people choose to take instead of prescription drugs or even alongside to better control their levels of pain.

In the second video, it follows someone who is a chronic pain sufferer from TN (Trigeminal Neuralgia) which has been classified to be one of the worst pains known to mankind. Its location within the brain makes it very hard to treat and hard to control the pain that it generates within the face, jaw, head, and neck. The video from BuzzFeed explains the medical condition further, the treatment options available, and the options for treating it with medical marijuana. It not only talks about treating chronic pain with medical marijuana but it also shows the options of CBD products available and its effects along with some products that do contain low levels of THC and how they compare.
