Is Gene Editing The Silver Bullet For Fighting Disease?

Gene editing is the brave new world of treating diseases and maybe even wiping out genetic disorders. Cas9 is a protein that can be used to knockout or edit human DNA. Wherever there is a genetic mutation, scientists can use the technology to manipulate strands of DNA and remove the mutation.

Scientists at UC Berkeley believe gene editing can be used for disease, for birth defects, agricultural applications and even to figure out how to make biofuels. Check out the video here to see how researchers are using this cutting edge process to advance cell biology.
