Enabling Next-Generation Targeted siRNA Therapies with ExpiCHO

    Biography
      Dr. Ian Huggins is a postdoctoral researcher at University of California San Diego, where he builds advanced RNA interference triggers for the treatment of cancer and genetic disease. He specializes in the design, cloning and expression of engineered protein targeting domains and utilizes multiple bioconjugation chemistries and biochemical purification strategies to produce high quality targeted protein-siRNA triggers.

    Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are a cornerstone of modern biomedical research and biotherapeutics. Therefore, reproducibly obtaining high yield and high purity mAbs while minimizing time and cost is critically important. In pursuit of this goal, we utilized the Gibco ExpiCHO Expression System to produce multiple mAbs. By optimizing several parameters, we obtained high yields from 30 mL shaker cultures at concentrations approaching 1 mg/mL in under 2 weeks. These results demonstrate the value of the ExpiCHO system as a game changing technology that brings high quantities of pure mAb within the reach of more scientists, enabling much more rapid and streamlined development of targeted therapies
