Abstract

Infectious diseases present a great challenge to global health and its economy. The 2020 SARS- CoV-2 pandemic highlighted the importance of rapid identification, characterization and surveillance of the virus to limit pathogen spread, and development of novel vaccine platforms and therapeutic agents. Across the spectrum from discovery of the infectious agent to cure, genetic analysis tools play an invaluable role in enabling researchers at each step of their research journey. Capillary Electrophoresis is one such tool that is vital to genomics through its gold-standard Sanger sequencing workflow and fragment analysis approach.
