According to published literature, up to 65% of errors occur in the preanalytical phase of laboratory testing, and coagulation assays are particularly sensitive to preanalytical issues. Coagulation test methods require consistent, evidence based preanalytics practices, ensuring all patient samples are collected without error. Lab results reported from samples improperly collected can produce mistaken test results, resulting in wrong treatments provided, or missed alternative diagnoses. Our webinar will examine the impact of preanalytical variables on clinical laboratory coagulation results, taking a case-based approach to help medical technologists, managers, and clinicians understand potential sources of errors and downstream clinical impacts.
