    Biography
      Patrick Batoon is the Product Manager of Triple Quadrupole LC/MS at Agilent Technologies. His Ph.D was obtained at University of the Pacific with a focus on mass spectrometry fundamentals such as ionization efficiency, ion-molecule reactions, and ion fragmentation pathways. Joining the company in 2016, he was formerly a chemist in Agilent's LC/MS Quadrupole R&D group, as part of the core team for the Ultivo LC/TQ and LC/MSD iQ.

      Biography

        Professor Vincent Bulone, PhD is the Director of Adelaide Glycomics, an analytical centre for complex carbohydrates recently established in collaboration with Agilent Technologies Australia Pty Ltd, and Director of the Global Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is also the Director of the recently granted Research Consortium Program for Agricultural Product Development supported by the South Australia Department for Industry and Skills, focusing on the conversion of agricultural waste into high-value products, and the Research Director of the Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre which will be instrumental in addressing Australia’s $20 billion food waste situation. Vincent’s research is focused in various areas of Glycoscience, comprising fundamental research on plants and microorganisms, as well as biotechnological developments towards carbohydrate-based products relevant to the following areas: Bioenergy, Biomaterials, Biorefinery, Agriculture and Waste Management, Food Sustainability and Disease Control. Vincent is a member of the Australian Research Council’s College of Experts and former director of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Cell Walls. Prior to his recruitment in Adelaide, Vincent was the Director of the Centre for Biomimetic Fibre Engineering and the Advanced Carbohydrate Materials Consortium in Stockholm, Sweden. Vincent is the founder of the spin-out company CarbOzide Pty Ltd in Adelaide. The company exploits his recent invention on UV protective materials based on carbohydrates and natural molecular sunscreens from algae.

          Biography

            Before joining Agilent in April of 2016, he worked for Bureau Veritas as Director of Technical Service, supporting the U.S., Canada, and Northern Latin America region for 12 years. His 30+ years of experience includes petroleum and petrochemical product methods development. He has developed numerous GC, HPLC, GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, 2D-GC-MS, online GC analyzer, and analyzer sampling systems. George has served as chairman of ASTM Subcommittee D02.D for over 14 years. He also serves on the U.S. American National Standards Institute Technical Advisory Group, as a designated expert for ISO Technical Committee 28.

          • Chander Mani, MSc
            Application Engineer at Agilent Technologies
            Biography

              After completing M.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry at Punjab University, Chander Mani started his career at Panacea Biotec in Analytical & Bioanalytical department of new drug discovery research and developed several methods for analytical and bioanalytical, and ADME/DMPK related studies. He also worked for several LC-MS based methods for the analysis of textiles and environmental analytes of interests during his stay in Bureau Veritas. For the past 8 years at Agilent, Chander has been actively involved in providing LC-MS based application support to pharmaceuticals, BA/BE, food safety and environmental based applications in his various roles.

            • Shane Allen Snyder, PhD
              Executive Director, Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) President's Chair in Water Technologies
              Biography

                Dr. Shane Snyder is a Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering and is the Executive Director of the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. He joined NTU after serving as a Professor of Chemical & Environmental Engineering and the co-Director of the Water & Energy Sustainable Technology (WEST) Center at the University of Arizona, USA.

                For over 20 years, Dr. Snyder’s research has focused on the identification, fate, and health relevance of emerging water pollutants. Dr. Snyder and his teams have published over 200 manuscripts and book chapters on emerging contaminant analysis, treatment, and toxicology (h-index = 68 with over 18,000 citations as of February 2018). Dr. Snyder has served as the Editor in Chief for the international journal Chemosphere (IF=5.1) from 2014 through 2020. He currently serves as the Editor in Chief for the American Chemical Society journal Environmental Science & Technology Water.

                Dr. Snyder has been invited to brief the Congress of the United States on three occasions on emerging issues in water quality. He is a Fellow of the International Water Association and a member of the World Health Organization’s Drinking Water Advisory Panel.

                He has served on several US EPA expert panels and is currently a member of the EPA’s Science Advisory Board drinking water committee and the US EPA’s Board of Scientific Counselors Sustainable Water committee.

                He was a member of the US National Academy of Science’s National Research Council Committee on Water Reuse and currently serves on the WHO’s guiding committee on development of potable reuse guidelines. Dr. Snyder has also worked as a Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore (2011-2017).
