POSTER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Virtual poster sessions offer the opportunity to present data to a global audience via a PDF poster and video summary, and discuss results with interested colleagues through email. Posters should be submitted as a PowerPoint file. Presentations should incorporate illustrative materials such as tables, graphs, photographs, and large-print text. This content is not peer-reviewed. Submission is free.

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed and decisions regarding acceptance will be made as abstracts are received. You will be notified within one week of receipt about acceptance. Further details and registration materials will be provided at that time. You do not have to be present in order to have a poster displayed. Only those abstracts approved by LabRoots may display posters at this event.
If accepted, you will also have the opportunity to record a 3-5 minute summary video for each poster. LabRoots will work with each individual to create these videos. Video links and email contact information will be included on each poster displayed.

LabRoots Policy
Dr. Yongfeng Ai is an Assistant Professor and Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture Endowed Research Chair in Carbohydrate Quality and Utilization in the Department of Food and Bioproduct Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan. The primary goal of his Carbohydrate Chemistry and Utilization Program is to promote value-added utilization of carbohydrates in foods, feeds and bioproducts. Specific research areas include:
(1) Chemical, physical and enzymatic modifications of starch and other carbohydrates for novel industrial applications
(2) Development of resistant starch, dietary fiber, and low-glycemic foods and feeds to improve the health of humans and animals
(3) Use of novel processing methods to enhance functional properties and nutritional quality of carbohydrates in pulses and cereal grains.
Niranjan Aryal, PhD is a lab director at Certus Analytics, a cannabis testing laboratory based in Southern California. He has a PhD in Plant Biotechnology from Montana State University. As the whole cannabis industry is moving towards standardization, Dr. Aryal believes that Cannabis testing laboratories play a pivotal role in the multidimensional cannabis industry. Production companies to the consumers, all rely on the analytical results produced by the laboratories. Given the immense importance, it is the responsibility of testing laboratories to produce precise, accurate, and consistent results for each sample they analyze. He also has research interest in: Secondary metabolites in Cannabis (Cannabinoids, terpenoids, flavonoids- biosynthetic pathway, evolutionary history, distribution among different strains and across the non-cannabis organisms) ; Biotechnological production of secondary metabolites from cannabis in other organisms such as yeasts ; medicinal values of secondary metabolites from Cannabis plants. He is also advocating for the legalization of cannabis in several countries, especially in south Asia.
Brian Domanski is a member of the Pharmaceutical Marketing team at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, with over 10 years of experience in liquid chromatography and supercritical fluid chromatography. Working with renowned collaborators in fields from cancer research and protein analysis to bioethanol production and jet fuel analysis, he has expertise in multi-dimensional chromatography, normal and reverse phase chromatography, SEC/GPC, and SFC.
Shianna Hines attended Texas A&AM University and Arizona State University, majoring in Biochemistry with a Medicinal Concentration. She has 17 years experience within the laboratory environment. She has a diversified portfolio working in various key roles within the agricultural, environmental , industrial, pharmaceutical and cannabis laboratory environments. She spent several years in Quality Assurance leading accreditation audits and laboratory operation management. Eight years ago she switched her career trajectory and began employment as a Service Engineer Specialist and Trainer for Agilent Technologies in the Analytical Inorganic Organization . Currently , Shianna is a Senior Field Application Scientist specializing in Cannabis for PerkinElmer Inc., after joining the company in 2018. In her current role at PerkinElmer she is responsible for the method development of heavy metals testing for cannabis, onsite customer method implementation, as well as research and development . Dr. Eberhardt Kuhn is the Marketing Manager for Food and Consumer Products at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments. He is a renowned chromatographer with over 30 years of experience in this field at companies like Agilent, Restek, and Bio-Rad. Dr. Kuhn has presented talks at conferences and events in over 30 countries. His expertise is the field of chromatographic separations, column chemistry, and scientific instrumental analysis of food, including determination and identification of contaminants, like pesticides or heavy metals, food quality, e.g., fusel alcohols in alcoholic beverages, and analytical method development, e.g., antibiotics in honey and acrylamide in fried foods.
Scott Peterman received his PhD in analytical chemistry at Texas A&M University in 2001 under Prof. David H. Russell. He joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2001 as an application chemist working on high-end mass spectrometers. He moved to the proteomics marketing group to develop the targeted peptide quantitation program where he directed and managed supporting software development. From there he moved to the Biomarker Research Initiatives in Mass Spectrometry (BRIMS) laboratory to further develop translational and clinical research workflows. In 2018, Scott was promoted to Sr. Global Product Marketing Manager focusing on ion mobility and Tribrid mass spectrometers.
Completed his doctoral studies at The Ohio State University where his focus was spent developing and studying metallodrugs and their interaction with viral RNA. Upon completion, he spent several years in academia before starting at MilliporeSigma at the Bellefonte site in early 2020. There, he is a senior scientist.
Dr. Sheen is a physicist in the Chemical Sciences Division at NIST. Before starting as an NRC postdoc at NIST, he earned his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Southern California in 2011. Since then, he has worked in uncertainty analysis for chemical reaction mechanisms, fluid properties estimation with machine learning, and metabolite identification.
John Tsavalas is a Polymer Scientist & Polymer Reaction Engineer with particular emphasis in polymer colloids (nanoparticles synthesized from polymers). He is an Associate Professor in Chemistry and Materials Science at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), the Director of the UNH Latex Morphology Industrial Consortium, the Deputy Director of the Center for Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Innovations (CAMMI) and a Lead Investigator in the NH Center for Multiscale Modeling & Manufacturing of Biomaterials (NH BioMade). He obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2001 and also holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Virginia (1996). In 2001 he did postdoctoral work in the Polymer Chemistry group at Eindhoven Technical University. In May of 2018, he was the chair of the Polymer Reaction Engineering X conference and in 2015 (as well as 2011) he was the host and organizer of the International Polymer Colloids Group Conference (formerly the Gordon Research Conference on Polymer Colloids). He has and continued to organize workshops and symposia at ACS meetings on Polymer Colloids. Prior to joining the University of New Hampshire, he was a Senior Research Scientist at The Dow Chemical Company where he worked on a wide variety of polymer colloid related R&D with particular emphasis on nanostructured latex particles. His current active areas of research include the interaction between water (both liquid and ice) and polymers, colloidal nanostructure and multiphase morphology development, colloidal assembly (also leveraging 3D printing), and fundamental mechanisms in free radical polymerization.
