Speaker
  • Senior Manager, Applications Science at ProteinSimple, a Bio-Techne Brand
    Biography
Chris Heger received his doctoral degree in Pharmacology from Cornell University, utilizing budding yeast as a model organism for studying exocytosis. Chris spent the next 3.5 years as a CCR/NCI/NIH Postdoctoral Fellow, working in the Antibody and Protein Purification Unit where he oversaw antibody development projects, from immunogen/epitope design to final product, for all NCI Principal investigators. A unique aspect of his postdoctoral training was his role in the evaluation of new technologies, serving as the gateway for cutting edge instrumentation to get into use at the NCI/NIH. Through this role, Chris became well-acquainted with Protein Simple. After completing his postdoctoral training, Chris began working for ProteinSimple. First, as a Field Applications Scientist for the Eastern USA and then as the Manager of Field Applications for Eastern USA, where he grew the team and laid solid foundations for future growth of the territory. In 2016, Chris began a new role, in sunny California, as the Manager of Applications Science, a new group chartered with fostering both external and internal collaborations, creating scientific collateral, and supporting various business units within ProteinSimple. Chris has a broad, in-depth knowledge of immunoassays of many 'flavors', capillary electrophoresis, and antibody design, production, and purification.

    Abstract

As the pace of biotherapeutic approvals increases, so does the pressure on makers of new biologics to complete their development processes faster and more efficiently. The success of the drug development process is directly proportional to the utilization of accurate, sensitive and fast methods for selection, identification, quantitation, purity and other analyses of the drug components and the final drug product. The common adage, “time is money” has never been more applicable than to today’s biopharmaceutical industry and its focus on improving bioprocessing technologies to reduce costs and increase efficiencies. By offering solutions that address the key stages of bioprocessing—from cell line development to process optimization and formulation to final product characterization—Bio-Techne and its family of brands streamlines measurement and quantification of the complex interactions between a drug product and its manufacturing process. Let us show you how our technologies and systems increase productivity and reveal new insights to accelerate the time to market for new biologics.

By attending this webinar, attendees will gain more insight into the current state of the bioprocessing industry and learn how they can overcome difficult bioprocessing challenges with products and services from Bio-techne and its family of brands, R&D Systems, ProteinSimple, Novus, Tocris and ACD.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Gain more insight into the current state of the bioprocessing industry
    2. Learn how researchers can overcome even the most difficult bioprocessing challenges with Bio-Techne’s products and services
