    IACUC: (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees), is a local working group that research facilities must appoint in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) and PHS Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. Most research involving laboratory animals is funded by the United States National Institutes of Health or, to lesser extents, other federal agencies.
