Monoclonal proteins, also called M proteins, are elevated in the blood and urine of patients with multiple myeloma or monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), a condition which is highly correlated to bone marrow and blood cancers. Monoclonal proteins are antibodies produced in the bone marrow by the cancerous cells.
