Abstract

Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC) and High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) are convenient, fast, and efficient separation techniques for analytical methods without demanding complicated sample preparations. The two versatile techniques offer low running costs and short analysis time per sample, along with parallel analysis of many samples on one plate. The Pharmacopeias still have numerous monographs based on TLC and in the recent years general chapters on HPTLC have been introduced in the USP (<203> in 2015) and the European Pharmacopeia (Ph. Eur. <2.8.25> in 2017).
