Incubation
In a laboratory setting, incubation is the process of keeping living things, such as cells or bacteria, at an optimal temperature for growth and development. In reference to animals which develop from eggs, such as chickens, incubation can refer to process of keeping the eggs warm until they hatch. In a medical setting, an incubation period can refer to the time it takes an infection to generate observable symptoms.
