    Environmental economics is a term developed in the 1960s that encompasses the economic impacts of environmental changes such as air pollution and global warming. Among the concepts covered in environmental economics is market failure, or the scenario where markets do not allocate scarce resources strategically to generate the greatest social welfare impact.
